Directions to the Claremont game site:
The Claremont Bridge Club normally plays on Thursday mornings at 9:30am in the Louise Roberts Room (LRR)
at Claremont United Church of Christ (CUC). There are two ways to get to the LRR: Coming from Indian Hill,
you turn East on Harrison (a left if coming from the North). Coming from Harvard Ave, you head West on
Harrison (a right if you are coming from the North). The church property is on the north side of Harrison
Ave. From Indian Hill, you will first pass a restricted / Day Care parking lot on your left then you'll get
to what I call the "Main" parking lot on your left (OK to park). Coming from Harvard, the Main lot is the
first one on your right. Unfortunately, the number of spaces in this Main lot is limited but there should
be plenty of street parking within a city block. You can't park in the restricted / DayCare lot. Assuming
you walk to the northern part of the Main parking lot, you'll be at 6 on the clock dial and there's essentially
an open courtyard to your north. The LRR is at 9 on the clock dial (towards your left). You go up the
stairs / ramp on the left, and staying outside, you then make a right on the covered walkway and walk next to
the building (which will now be on your left), and the LRR is half-way down on the left where you'll see a
double door on your left and some signage above the door (though the signs aren't great).
Commentary on the Hands (in general):
The Claremont Bridge Club often uses bridge hands generated by TheCommonGame.com . You'll find a wealth
of information on that site, including some commentary on the hands you've played. This is a free site
though they do ask for donations if you find the commentary valuable.
9:30am Start! The 9:30am is a serious start time...if you arrive late there's no guarantee we can seat you...so please plan to arrive in the LRR no later than) 9:20am so plz take into account that you might have to walk a block after you park. The playing fee is all of $5<---Exact Change Appreciated! We also take Venmo if we have to.
Need a Partner? Some folks are looking for partners. If you now need a partner, please let me know *and* tell me what bidding system you use (SAYC, 2/1, Random, etc.). It's best if you have a convention card filled out on Bridgewinners (a free site). Note that the club has a cap of 1,500 master points on all players. It helps both my score entry and your ability to review your results if you're an ACBL.org member with an ACBL player number.
Zero Tolerance Club (ZTC): We want to be an enjoyable, friendly club with as little (additional) stress as possible... so we're implementing ACBL.org ZTC standards which include things like not criticizing your partner (nor others) during the game. Remember: We have newer bridge players and we want to welcome them into this amazing social and intellectual experience. The Directors are very serious about this: Fun and Friendly. This is a game. Let's enjoy it together.
New(er) to Club Play?: If you're new(er) to Sanctioned Club play but couldn't make it to the Intro to Club Play classes, let me know and I'll send you the handouts.
Coffee Situation: There's a single Keurig machine so plz be aware of coffee queuing (and please bring your choice of K-cup pucks). We'll have single-use cups. We welcome your contributions to either coffee or food (the LRR has its own kitchen setup). There's usually cookies to go with your coffee.
Timed Play: This is a timed event. Initially we'll mark boards not played as neutral "No Plays"/(NP) in the scoring...but if your pair # keeps generating No Plays against various opponents over a period of time, we'll have no choice but to reflect that tardiness in your scoring: Sorry 'bout that but it's only fair to pairs that play within the time constraints.
The game results are also available via ACBL Live-for-Clubs.
